All our students, staff and faculty have left books, papers, meetings and computers behind for a day of service in our community! This year, we celebrated the 15th Annual Common Day of Service in the rain! There was laughter in the air and stories shared among the Warner Pacific community and the nonprofits across the Portland Area.
The sites served today included over 18 local organizations, including:
- Braking Cycles
- Compassion Connect
- The Giving Closet
- Birch Community Services
- Columbia Christian School
- Vibe of Portland
- Scouters Mountain Elementary
- Portland Mercado
Some of the students serving today had some great insight into why it’s important to serve their community:
“We are a Christ-centered school. In the Bible, Jesus talks about serving others and the community. We are doing that today, even in the pouring rain.”
-Karina Kovalchuk (Freshman, Nursing)
“We’re all about the city. A part of that is giving back to our city. We want to make sure our city is thriving by helping each other!”
-Irving Ayala (Senior, Sports Management)
