Dear Warner Pacific University Community,

Medical experts report the Omicron variant of the coronavirus and increased holiday travel are contributing to a rise in cases in the U.S.. In addition, the number of cases in the Pacific Northwest area has already reached an alarming level.  In an abundance of caution and support, we are taking the following measures to support our university community:

Therefore, for the next 21 days, we have placed a suspension on all in-person campus activities including—but not limited to—chapel services, in-person course instruction (see below), extracurricular activities and student club/organization meetings. All staff personnel will report to campus to service the needs of our continuing and incoming students while faculty will be permitted to provide online instruction from home. The exception to this suspension will be nursing-related instruction and athletic facilities, practices and competitions will only be placed on a 14 day suspension of activities. Employee meetings during this period should be conducted virtually.  Non-essential travel during this time will not be approved.

This is only a temporary measure. We will continue to analyze the latest data, await continued guidance from federal, state and local officials on the latest developments, and anticipate that we will be able to resume in-person campus activities at the end of this 21-day suspension.

  • The Student Life Center will be open for faculty, students and staff with limited seating.
  • Chapel activities will be available virtually.
  • The Cafeteria will remain open at reduced capacity and students are encouraged to use grab and go options.
  • Campus libraries will be open with continued COVID precautions.
  • All students may continue to move in as planned. Campus housing will remain open with guest visitation suspended until further notice. Residential students are allowed to interact (socially distant) within the 24-hour lounge spaces while masked.
  • All in-person courses are anticipated to resume fully in-person starting January 31, 2022. Aside from what is noted below, faculty and students will receive further instructions from the Office of Academic Affairs.
Traditional Instruction On January 10, 2022, all courses will start as asynchronous online classes for one week. From January 18, 2022, all in-person classes will be conducted synchronously for two weeks.
Professional and Graduate Studies Instruction On January 10, 2022, all  courses will transition to fully online, with in-person  classes meeting synchronously via Zoom for three weeks.
